An active wood preserving
plant was accused of improper past practices that caused a carcinogenic
chemical contamination of groundwater aquifers supplying domestic
water wells. Use of this water was alleged to cause Leukemia and
the death of a child. ChemTech personnel were asked to review
and comment of the allegation, facilities involved, post operating
practices, past wastewater lagoon details, and other physical
site data. ChemTech personnel reviewed the past data relating
to the facility layout, operation, duration of use, and wastewater
treatment system construction practices/ methods. Substantial
correspondence (external and internal) was reviewed. Expert testimony
was given at depositions, and trial presentations were prepared.
Settlement analysis was performed.
