I n d u s t r i a l   L u m b e r   D r y   K i l n   E x p l o s i o n 

     A large explosion destroyed a new natural gas heated lumber dryer during the initial start-up operation of the newly constructed unit. Allegations of improper design and construction were lodged against the builder by the owner. ChemTech personnel were asked to determine the cause, the responsibility for the explosion, and the feasibility and cost to repair the unit.

     ChemTech personnel performed a post explosion inspection of the badly damaged dry kiln and interviewed key personnel and witnesses. All available documents were reviewed including design drawings, combustion safety electrical designs, all construction drawings, and all engineering calculations. A cause of the explosion was determined, and expert testimony was prepared and presented in a jury trial.
